Cuttery's Beauty of Giving™
Helps Kids Look Good, Feel Good
September,
2002 - Hair Cuttery is
constantly evolving to keep
up with the latest trends. But
one thing hasn't changed, and
that's the company's commitment
to the community. Through its
Beauty
of Giving(tm) program,
Hair Cuttery reiterated that
commitment this summer by helping
thousands of children in need
attain confidence that only
a new hairstyle can bring.
In August,
Hair Cuttery gave 50,000 free
haircuts to children in need
by donating a free service for
every child's haircut purchased
in its 800 salons during the
first two weeks of that month.
Since launching the Share-A-Haircut
drive four years ago, Hair Cuttery
has donated 155,000 free haircuts
worth more than $1.5 million
dollars.
"A new
haircut on the first day of
school can make a big difference
in a new school year,"
said Dennis Ratner, founder
and CEO of Hair Cuttery's parent
corporation, Ratner Companies.
"We believe everyone should
do their part to help children
excel, and Share-A-Haircut is
how we give kids that extra
boost of confidence they need."
In July, Hair
Cuttery donated a free haircut
to any client who donated their
hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit
organization that donates wigs
to financially disadvantaged
children with permanent medical
hair loss. Hair Cuttery donated
948 free haircuts to clients
who
donated 10 inches or more in
one of its salons during July,
giving Locks of Love enough
hair to create 79 wigs.
Hair Cuttery
is able to touch the lives of
thousands of people each year
through its charitable giving
program, The Beauty of Giving(tm).
In addition to Share-A-Haircut
and Locks of Love, Hair Cuttery
is also a collection site for
American Red Cross disaster
relief efforts. Hair Cuttery
associates also spend thousands
of hours volunteering for local
and national charities, such
as the American Cancer Society,
the Susan G. Komen Foundation,
March of Dimes, Special Olympics
and AID Atlanta, an AIDS service
organization serving the Atlanta
area.
"We encourage
our associates to give back
to their communities,"
said Kristen Crook, Director
of Public Relations. "Each
year, during our company-wide
recognition events, we reward
all of our volunteers with The
Beauty of Giving(tm) pins."
In November, the company expects
to recognize 560 volunteers.
Hair Cuttery
was founded by CEO and Stylist
Ratner in 1974. The value-priced
salon chain is the largest division
of Ratner Companies, a family-owned
company with 800 Hair Cuttery
salons on the East Coast, in
the Midwest and in the United
Kingdom. Hair Cuttery offers
a full complement of cutting,
coloring and texturing services
with no appointment necessary. |
