The cold and dry elements of
winter can really take a toll
on your hair. Don' t despair!
The experts at Hair Cuttery
offer these tips for keeping
your hair healthy and looking
good this winter, no matter
what the length or style.
- Keep your
hair hydrated by keeping your
body hydrated. Drink lots
of water to keep those tresses
shiny and supple.
- Wash less
and rinse more. Don' t wash
your hair every day if it'
s not dirty. Bonus: experts
say that second-day hair is
easier to style!
- Condition,
condition, condition! Be sure
to coat the ends, because
those pieces are most likely
to break off. Try using an
intense deep moisturizer now
and then.
- Stay away
from products with a lot of
alcohol, which dries out the
moisture your hair desperately
needs in winter.
- If your
hair is relaxed or permed,
make sure you use a deep conditioner
at least once a week.
- Spend
a lot of time in the indoor
pool at the gym in winter?
Protect your hair from damaging
chlorine by wetting it with
fresh water from the pool
shower before you take a dip.
Hair is porous and absorbs
liquid. If it' s saturated
with healthy water, it won'
t absorb as much chlorinated
water.
- Switch
shampoos — your hair
is usually dryer in the winter.
- Gently
scrunch your hair with a dryer
sheet to stop static in its
tracks.
- Be sure
to trim your hair regularly
in the winter. Dry hair breaks
easily and can leave you with
dull and brittle ends.
- Try a
wholesome hair-care mask by
mixing two whole eggs with
four tablespoons of olive
oil. Smooth through and wrap
head with Saran Wrap. Leave
in for 10 minutes, then rinse
well. For extra smoothness,
add a tablespoon of honey.
