| Has
hair spray gone the way of the
bouffant hairdo?
May, 2003 - In May, Hair
Cuttery asked visitors to its
website if hair spray is as
popular a styling tool as it
once was. By mid-month, 1,010
people had responded, with 64
percent saying no!
Hair Cuttery
International Artist Shannon
King says hairspray still works
great as a finishing tool, but
adds that so many memory products
like pomades and waxes work
great on damp and dry hair.
So what can
you do with all those extra
cans of hair spray on your vanity?
Shannon shares a few trade secrets
of his own.
- Hair spray
is a great way to stop a stain
in its tracks. Spilled a little
coffee or a dollop of salad
dressing on your blouse? Gently
lift whatever remains of the
spill with your fingernail
or a utensil and then give
the stain a blast of hair
spray. That should prevent
the stain from setting in
before you get it in the wash.
- Do your
slacks and skirts suffer from
static cling? After you squeeze
into your stockings and before
you dress, try spritzing a
little hair spray on your
legs to add a buffer zone
between hose and clothes.
- Today' s
hair spray is nothing like
your grandmother' s smelly
aerosols. Today, most are
infused with pleasing fragrance.
Try pumping a little into
the air to freshen up your
office or powder room.
- Everyone
knows you can freeze a run
in your pantyhose with nail
polish. But did you know hair
spray works, too? Spray some
directly on the run to get
you through the day.
- Going
out dancing tonight? Skip
the expensive dry cleaning
bill the morning after! Spray
your outfit with Redken' s
Airtight Lock-Out Finishing
Spray. (It will lock smoke
out of your hair, too!)
