Brighten
Up With Hair Cuttery's Color
Options For Men Of All Ages
June,
2002 -The latest trends
in men's fashion show that
girls aren't the only ones
who want to have fun with
color. Hair Cuttery—the
nation's largest privately-owned
salon chain-is noticing that
more than ever, male clients
are turning to color, and
it's not just to cover the
gray.
Hair Cuttery stylists report
an increase in men in their
20s and 30s who are requesting
subtle color changes, while
younger customers are asking
for bold slashes and streaks.
That fits in with national
statistics. According to
Michael Wood, vice
president of Teenage Research
Unlimited, 48 percent of young
men aged 12 to 19 surveyed
in spring 2002 say that all-over
hair color is in, while 56
percent say highlights are
cool. Even older men are getting
into the act. Actor Brad Pitt
has been known to highlight
his hair, while athletes Tiger
Woods and Mike Piazza did
a short stint as blondes.
"Hair
color isn't just for women
anymore," said Hair Cuttery
color expert Susan
Garner, based in Atlanta.
"They have discovered
what women have known for
years: color can really give
you an emotional lift that's
even better than a good haircut."
Still, most
men don't want to fuss over
their hair, Garner added.
Older clients who do want
to cover the gray prefer a
gradual transformation and
will add a bit more color
with each service. Younger
men like to add a touch of
lighter streaks to the front
and crown and be out of the
salon in less than an hour.
Some even want an all-over
shot of color that can take
as little as 30 minutes.
"We've
worked really hard to meet
the rising demands in men's
color," Garner said,
by educating stylists on the
latest men's color trends
and developing quick and easy
techniques that fit the male
client's schedule. And, true
to Hair Cuttery's philosophy
of providing value-priced
service, color must fit into
the male grooming budget.
"It's so great to see
that men realize they don't
have turn to boxed color products
to get affordable results,"
Garner added.
