Ratner Companies started with one salon and two Stylists back in 1974. Dennis Ratner was an up-and-coming hairdresser working in his father's Louis salon in Washington, D.C. It was the beginning of a new era, and Dennis envisioned a unisex salon convenient for the whole family. Over dinner with then-wife and fellow Stylist Ann, Dennis sketched on a cocktail napkin a business plan that laid the groundwork for the first Hair Cuttery salon. Hair Cuttery Recognizes Top Company Performers

April, 2002 - Hair Cuttery salon leaders and stores were recognized recently as the salon chain feted those responsible for its success: 250 of its top associates from 13 states at the Sheraton Bal Harbour in Miami. During the four-day celebration, Hair Cuttery founder Dennis Ratner presented the company's coveted "WOW Awards" in different categories.

The recipients of the salon leadership awards are determined by ratings of salon leaders and assistant leaders by the stylists working in their salons. Ratings are based on ability to uphold in the salon the company values of self-confidence, building relationships, teamwork, quality of life, and integrity. At the same time, clients rate Individual salons based upon customer service.

This year's WOW Awards were presented to:

  • Stacey Busch, Park Ridge Plaza salon, Park Ridge, Illinois - Top Assistant Salon Leader
  • Lisa Bifulco, Oakwood Plaza and Oakwood Plaza II salons in Hollywood, Florida; Minerva Lozano, Doral Center salon in Miami; and April Petrus, Yorktowne Center salon, Falls Church, Virginia - Top Salon Leaders;
  • Yorktowne Center Salon Team - Top Salon.
