Ratner Companies started with one salon and two Stylists back in 1974. Dennis Ratner was an up-and-coming hairdresser working in his father's Louis salon in Washington, D.C. It was the beginning of a new era, and Dennis envisioned a unisex salon convenient for the whole family. Over dinner with then-wife and fellow Stylist Ann, Dennis sketched on a cocktail napkin a business plan that laid the groundwork for the first Hair Cuttery salon. Does Donald Trump Surrender His Infamous ‘Do?
Hair Cuttery Hosts NBC’s “The Apprentice”
Teams to Tackle Hair-Raising Task

Vienna, VA, February 22, 2006 - When the fifth season of NBC's "The Apprentice" begins airing in late February, the weekly team tasks are bound to become a hot topic of water cooler conversation. Late in the season, one question will be on everyone’s mind: “does Donald Trump surrender his infamous ’do?”

Hair Cuttery, the nation’s largest privately held chain of full-service, value-priced hair salons, will play an integral role in one of the season’s weekly team tasks. Renowned stylist and Hair Cuttery CEO Dennis Ratner was on set during filming and met the show’s star. But did Mr. Trump allow Mr. Ratner to style his locks? Only time will tell.

“The entire experience of participating in such an energetic and popular program was unforgettable,” said Ratner, who co-founded Hair Cuttery in 1974. “Mr. Trump is a tremendous sport and fascinating individual, and ‘The Apprentice’ program itself takes a very creative approach to uncovering business aptitude. Hair Cuttery is all about combining creativity with good business sense, so we were thrilled to work with the show to develop a featured task, launching our franchise business nationally.”

The fifth season of NBC's "The Apprentice" airs on Monday nights, (9 p.m. ET/ PT) premiering on February 27. The episode featuring Hair Cuttery airs later in the season; exact date is yet to be determined.
