| Hair Cuttery Celebrates 6th Anniversary
of Share-A-Haircut Cause-Related National Campaign
Falls Church, VA, August 4, 2004 --- What started out only six years ago as a modest community-based program has grown at an extraordinarily rapid pace to touch the lives of hundreds of thousands of children throughout the country. From August 1 – 15, 2004, thousands more can do their part to help as Hair Cuttery celebrates the 6th Anniversary of its nationally acclaimed Share-A-Haircut back-to-school program benefiting underprivileged children.
The “kids helping kids” program works as follows: for every child’s haircut purchased at any Hair Cuttery salon in the U.S. during the first two weeks of August, Hair Cuttery donates a matching free haircut to an underprivileged child from partner social service agencies, just in time for the start of the new school year. As a result, the company has donated more than $2 million in free haircuts since the program began in 1999.
Doing What We Do Best For Others – The Birth of Share-A-Haircut
Share-A-Haircut was founded based on Hair Cuttery’s philosophy of giving back to the community by doing what they do best – cutting hair. Starting out in 1999 in only four communities, today the program has expanded to include all 800+ salons and 10,000+ stylists across 13 states, using their talents and skills to give their clients the gift of self-esteem.
More than 200,000 of this country’s less fortunate children have been able to start their first days of school with a new look, positive attitude and renewed self-confidence thanks to Share-A-Haircut. “With more kids than ever before in foster care and other programs, social services agencies nationwide need corporate partners to help them manage strained budgets.
Share-A-Haircut works with over 130 agencies in the country to help as many children as possible,” says Dennis Ratner, founder, CEO and licensed stylist of Ratner Companies, Hair Cuttery’s parent company. This year’s goal is to donate another 50,000 free haircuts through the program.
August 1, 2004: Celebrating the Spirit of Giving
The 6th Anniversary Share-A-Haircut campaign kicks off on Sunday, August 1 at all Hair Cuttery salons throughout the country, including major markets such as Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Orlando, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Richmond, Washington D.C. and other cities. Throughout the two-week campaign (ending August 15), all children who participate – those giving and receiving – will get the very latest “must-have” looks that they really want, from stylists who keep on top of the latest hair trends influencing today’s youth.
“Share-A-Haircut fosters a spirit of giving among children to aid less privileged children through the simple and compassionate act of sharing. And that is worth celebrating every day,” concluded Ratner. About Hair Cuttery
