ColorWorks
Presents Premiere Collection,
"Classic Cool"
January,
2002 -
ColorWorks,
the upscale yet affordable haircolor
concept salon in Arlington,
Virginia, wants to color the
world cool, very cool. The salon's
first style and color collection,
"Classic Cool," spotlights
"wearable color."
These styles feature updated
classic cuts with modern color
that adds accents and heightens
the designs. "We like looks
that are fashionable, up-to-date
and appealing to a wide range
of color clients," says
Allyson
Hurley,
business unit leader for ColorWorks.
"We like casual, unfussy,
everyday color that gleams and
pops, with styles that are simple
yet dazzling."
The
models are:
Jennifer
— Jennifer's hair features
"layers of color,"
areas of lightness and darkness
to create the illusion of no-distinct
beginning or end to the color
variations. This dimensional
effect was achieved by first
coloring the hair to a deep
red base, then decolorizing
the ends using a slicing technique
with 1inch between foils. After
the lightening, the hair was
divided into 1-inch sections,
then three different levels
of copper were used as a glaze.
The design is disconnected,
with a jagged silhouette created
through a "scoop and switch"
technique with alternating finger
angles.
Linda
— Linda's color concept
allows her to wear her color
two ways. The natural base color
was lifted one level and made
warmer, then three pyramids
were sectioned out on the top,
with that hair placed in back-to-back
foils to allow a cascade of
caramel color to spill over
a rich, warm brown. Linda's
one-length hair was then shortened
to shoulder length while a switch
technique was utilized to create
texture and plenty of movement.
Michael
— Michael shows that men
can add color without going
over the top. His natural level
7 medium blond hair was given
a natural finish by alternating
foils with lighter and darker
shades. The cut was shaped with
a razor, keeping the perimeter
long.
Amy
— Not everyone needs or
wants dimensional color, but
that doesn't have to mean flat,
dull hair! After extensions
were added to Amy's baby fine
hair, a deposit-only color deepened
her shade to a rich chocolate
brown. Her graduated bob, cut
from a very solid and strong
perimeter, features stronger
graduation in the back, becoming
longer as the hair moves around
her face.
