Ratner Companies started with one salon and two Stylists back in 1974. Dennis Ratner was an up-and-coming hairdresser working in his father's Louis salon in Washington, D.C. It was the beginning of a new era, and Dennis envisioned a unisex salon convenient for the whole family. Over dinner with then-wife and fellow Stylist Ann, Dennis sketched on a cocktail napkin a business plan that laid the groundwork for the first Hair Cuttery salon. YOU NEED HAIRCOLOR NOW! And ColorWorks' Tammy Madison Knows Why

February, 2002 - Tammy Madison sees the world in color. The Color Education Leader for Arlington's new ColorWorks salon, located in the upscale Pentagon Row Shopping Center, thinks color is for everyone. And that means you!
Why do you need color now? Here's what Tammy has to say:

  1. Get noticed. "Color turns heads, and all your friends will want it, too!"
  2. "Color embraces the three C's," says Madison. "Those are choice, change, and control. You can choose what your haircolor will be, change what you have, and control the finished effect."
  3. Accessorize. "Haircolor is the accessory you'll wear with every outfit," Tammy points out.
  4. Shine. "If your hair lacks shimmer, haircolor is the answer," advises Madison.
  5. Confidence. "Does your haircolor make you feel sexy?" Madison asks. "If not, it's time to switch color."
  6. As a fashion statement, color says the right thing. "Everybody's wearing it now."
  7. Originality. Why not express yourself through your haircolor? "Every color service is unique to the person who wears it," notes Madison. And with today's color processes, you can change your color almost as often as your mood.
  8. Make your design "pop." The only thing better than a great haircut, in Madison's book, is a haircut with color-that an extraordinary look.
  9. Texture. "You can have visual texture on any head of hair," says the expert, who points out that color is a great way to add texture without layering one-length hair. (Haircolor can add thickness to thin hair as well.)
  10. Youthful. "You don't have to play with the card you're dealt," Madison says. You can cover your gray-or just make it a brighter, more shimmery silver.

ColorWorks is located at Pentagon Row, 1101 S. Joyce St., Arlington, Virginia. The salon is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments can be booked by calling the salon at 703.416.1102.
