LOCAL SALON PROFESSIONALS ANNOUNCE TRENDS FOR SUMMER ‘05

Vienna, VA -- May 23, 2005 – Top salon professional Mezei Jefferson, Color Director for ColorWorks Salon in Towson, Md., predicts that hairstyles this summer will be based on individuality and versatility, with a focus on quality and luxury. Styles will reflect personal flavor and will seamlessly transition from sunrise to sunset, fitting any setting from the corporate boardroom to the theater or the boardwalk.

With haircolor hues ranging from soft blondes to rich browns and make-up colors including greens and vibrant pinks, there are many options to choose from that demonstrate one’s flair for uniqueness. Jefferson envisions the following hair color trends making way this summer:

Color

  • Deep brunettes in charcoal, coffee bean and “Hershey’s Special Dark”
  • Pastel blondes with incredibly soft contrast
  • Reds that imitate nature

Length

  • Extremes ranging from very short to very long, still including everything in between

Style and Texture

  • Emphasis on individuality versus celebrity impersonations
  • Styles will range from obvious to very soft layers
  • Edgy ends will take preference over the feathery, wispy edges of last summer

Make-up Trainer Anastacia, of ColorWorks Salon in Fairfax, Va., predicts that summer make-up trends will complement the hairstyles of the season. Bold shades will be popular in the beginning of the season, but look out for the flawless nearly-nude look making way as autumn approaches.

  • Full and lush lashes, emphasized with green, pink and nude shadows
  • Soft and glossy lips in pinks and nudes
  • Soft, pink blush
  • Anastacia’s summer “must” – a bronzer to transition from the color-infused hues of spring to the darker tones of the summer
