Ratner Companies started with one salon and two Stylists back in 1974. Dennis Ratner was an up-and-coming hairdresser working in his father's Louis salon in Washington, D.C. It was the beginning of a new era, and Dennis envisioned a unisex salon convenient for the whole family. Over dinner with then-wife and fellow Stylist Ann, Dennis sketched on a cocktail napkin a business plan that laid the groundwork for the first Hair Cuttery salon. Work Hard, Play Hard
With Bubbles “Day to Night” Design

Washington, D.C., June 20, 2003 – Bubbles Salon has proven that your fashion-forward male clients don’t have to sacrifice an edgy hairstyle to accommodate their day jobs. Look cool by day, and go wild by night with this reversible design, featured in the Bubbles “Color Chic” collection.

“Today’s young professionals don’t necessarily go home at the end of the day only to get ready for the next,” says Ann Ratner, Bubbles president and licensed stylist. “They have a very busy social calendar and want hairstyles that can easily transition them from work to play.”

A popular style among the Bubbles clientele is this reversible design, featured in the Color Chic collection. A horseshoe-shaped section around the crown is considerably longer than the interior, yet texturized to remove weight, giving your client the option to blend it in or piece it out. Blending creates a more classic, GQ look. But add a little strong-hold paste and your client is ready for the club scene.

To get color like our model’s, apply level 5 ash all over, leaving one slash from the apex to the corner of the eye untouched. Apply level 3 neutral to the slash. Let both process 30 minutes. For the design, section out a horseshoe-shaped segment to separate the exterior from the interior. Consistently use vertical graduation in exterior. For the center section, direct hair to the top of the crest to be cut, making the center longer than the crest line. Hold hair up for square top, and, using texturizers, remove weight, section by section, to keep the length.
